Row for the Cure at the Hooch
The Head of the Hooch has been committed to making a difference in the community since 2007 through races that support Row for the Cure. Thanks to pre-Hooch fundraising by teams, Row for the Cure event entry fees, and Hooch merchandise sales, the 2014 Hooch raised over $28,000 bringing the eight year total to over $550,000. In addition to supporting the Chattanooga and Greater Atlanta affiliates of Komen for the Cure, teams raising money designate their local Komen affiliates as beneficiaries of their fundraising efforts.
In addition to raising community awareness, 75% of funds raised support women at risk who may not otherwise have access to early detection, screening and treatment services. Did you know that $10 can pay for a breast cancer screening? Or that $100 will pay for a mammogram? And $1,000 will cover the cost of a biopsy? The remaining 25% raised supports breast cancer research moving us closer to the ultimate goal – a cure.
