Scoring is weighted for boat size (number of athletes) and the number of entries per event. The point grid is implemented from the right to the left, for example a fours event with 3 entries results in 16 first place points.

Each point level is awarded to only one boat per event, even if boats from different organization types compete in an event.  For example, if club and college boats compete in a Championship event, first-place points will only be awarded to the first-place boat.

Organizations

For the purpose of team points, organizations will be designated as Youth, Masters, College, or College/ACC.  Team points will be awarded based on the club designation and event type.  Composite boats will not be included in the team point totals. Team points will be grouped by the exact organization name.  Team points will not be combined for related organizations that fail to register using the same organization name (e.g. University Men’s Crew and University Women’s Crew).

Youth Team Points

Youth team points will be awarded only for youth-designated events (Youth, Youth Novice, Youth Lightweight, etc.).

Masters Team Points

Masters team points will be awarded in all non-youth-designated events. No team points will be awarded for adaptive events.

College Team Points

College team points will be awarded in all event designations except the following: youth, master, and alumni.

ACC Trophy

The trophy will be awarded to the ACC school with the highest point total, and will include both men’s and women’s teams. Member Schools: Member Schools: Boston College, Clemson University, Duke University, Florida State, Georgia Tech, NC State, University of Maryland, University of Miami, University of North Carolina, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

Exclusion from Team Points

By tradition, the Head of the Hooch Regatta does not award team points to the Atlanta Rowing Club and Lookout Rowing Club. Additionally, Alumni boats do not earn team points for any team. If any organization determines that one or more of their entries should not be considered for the purpose of team points (in the interest of fairness or for any other reason), the organization should contact the regatta registrar.
