NEW FOR 2017:

  • Filled water barriers will be placed at or near the four entrances as required by the Chattanooga Police Department to enhance site security.  Water filled barriers will be in place from Friday morning at approximately 9:00 am until Sunday afternoon until approximately 4:00 pm and will only be removed in the evenings on Friday and Saturday nights after crowds on site dissipate.
    • Special arrangements will be made to allow Team Boat Trailer access after 9:00 am on Friday.
    • Car toppers arriving after 9:00 am on Friday should see notes added below for unloading and loading instructions.
    • All Regatta Access Requirements still apply as noted below.
  • The Newton Chevrolet parking lot is being developed and is no longer available for Hooch parking.  Parking for team truck/tow vehicles is available in the Alstom parking lot near the MLK/Riverfront Parkway intersection and boat trailer overflow is available in the Chattanooga Whiskey parking lot.
  • Construction fencing has been removed under Olgiati Bridge on the river side of Riverfront Parkway only.  This area will be used for boat lay down space with boats placed perpendicular to the road.  Access to the docks will be via the same ramp as last year, which is upstream of Olgiati Bridge.

Tow Vehicle Parking

Limited tow vehicle parking will be available at Alstom on Riverfront Parkway near Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Team Buses

No team bus parking will be available on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday inside the roadblocks.  The suggested bus drop off and pick up traffic pattern is to drive into town, turn left from Chestnut Street onto 3rd Street and right from 3rd Street onto Power Alley.  This area is for team drop off and pick up only; there is no long-term bus parking at this location.  Leave Power Alley via 2nd Street.  Buses may stop along the westbound right lane of Riverfront Parkway outside of the roadblock for drop off and pick up, as directed by Hooch volunteers, although this is a quarter mile further from the venue than last year.

There is no bus drop off and pick up on the venue Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Closest team drop off and pickup area is Power Alley between Second and Third Streets.  The west Riverfront Road closure is near MLK and there is limit space between the roadblock and the MLK intersection.

Team Supply and Food Deliveries

Teams should load supplies and food onto trucks and trailers and bring these items on site when the team trailer is delivered to avoid having to walk these supplies onto the site from outside the roadblocks. Team supporters dropping off food should use the Aquarium turn-about at the end of Broad Street to load and unload. From this point, it is a short walk to the venue seating and team tent area using the walkway between the Aquarium buildings. Only a small number of vehicles will be allowed to use the turn-around at a time given its small size and the need to allow access for Aquarium visitors. One person must stay with the vehicle at all times while it is parked in the turn-about. Supplies such as slings, rigging, and tools not delivered when boat trailer is dropped off must be walked in from either Power Alley or the west entrance on Riverfront Parkway.

Car-toppers

Car-toppers should access the site from the west end of Riverfront Parkway on Thursday and Friday, but please see potential restrictions in Note 4 above.  On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, car-toppers can access the site via Power Alley.  On all four days, car-toppers are asked to unload their boats and equipment and then remove their vehicles from the site immediately. See Access for Car-toppers map.

Handicapped parking

Handicapped parking is close to the venue. A valid Department of Transportation handicapped parking sticker or license plate will be required. Access for handicapped parking will be in the parking garage on West 2nd Street, between, Chestnut Street and Power Alley. See Venue Access & Parking map.

Boat Storage

Due to the large number of entries, teams are asked to store as many shells as possible on their trailers and on boat trees.  Boat trees may not be reserved for single teams.  It is highly recommended that teams bring their own boat slings.  As in past years, a limited number of boat trees (plus 25 additional sets to compensate for remote boat trailer parking) will be available for boat storage.  Storage of boats is at your own risk. The Organizing Committee cannot be responsible for improper storage of equipment.

NOTE THAT NO BOAT LAYDOWN SPACE IS AVAILABLE IN THE BOAT TRAILER PARKING LOTS UNTIL ALL PARKING SPACES ARE FILLED. ONCE ALL TRAILERS ARE PARKED, EXCESS SPACE MAY BE USED AS LAYDOWN SPACE. PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK WALKWAYS MARKED BY ORANGE TRAFFIC CONES.
